Arizona is best known for the Grand Canyon National Park . The Grand Canyon celebrated for its overwhelming size and its intricate and colorful landscape, is a beautiful and amazing gorge carved through the rocks of the Colorado Plateau over millennia. Consider staying in Williams, Arizona, your Gateway to the Grand Canyon®.  From Williams you can catch the renowned Grand Canyon Railway into the Park (during winter, The Polar Express from the classic children's book by Chris Van Allsburg, comes to life when the train departs the Williams Depot for a special visit to the "North Pole") .  Also popular, is floating down the Colorado River, seeing the Grand Canyon by helicopter, or taking a bus tour around the South Rim….all this and more is available through a multitude of tour operators. Five minutes from Williams is the newest addition to Arizona fun spots:  Bearizona!  This is a drive through a wildlife park with bear cubs, wolf pups, 8 grown bears, buffalo, burros, big horned sheep and dahl sheep.  Don't miss Bearizona if you are in or around Flagstaff. Take the same exit as the Grand Canyon Hwy 64, just go South 1 minute, and you will see the sign.   

Additionally there are twenty-four other areas that you might not have heard of that are in Arizona’s designated National Parks, Historical Parks, Monuments, Historic Trails, and Recreation Areas.  For example, see how prehistoric peoples of the Tonto basin lived in the Cliff Dwellings at the Tonto National Monument.  Visit the Petrified Forest National Park, known for the Painted Desert, a colorful collection of eroded landscapes (badlands) and an abundance of multi-colored petrified wood.  Visit enormous reservoirs in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, formed by the Hoover and Davis Dams, which offer boating, camping, hiking, fishing and many other activities.  You can find a complete list of nationally designated areas at the National Park Service’s Arizona page.
